Substance abuse has emerged as one of the most serious social challenges of our time, adversely affecting individual health, family harmony, social stability, and national development. Keeping this concern in focus, Buxar Medical City Foundation has been consistently organizing community-based awareness initiatives aimed at building a drug-free society.

As part of this ongoing campaign, a Street Awareness Programme was successfully conducted on Sunday, 28 December 2025, across major intersections, marketplaces, and public places in Buxar town. The programme utilized banners and informative pamphlets to communicate strong anti-drug messages to the general public.

Awareness on the Harmful Effects of Substance Abuse

During the campaign, volunteers of the Foundation actively interacted with local residents, with special emphasis on youth and working professionals. They explained the severe physical, mental, and social consequences of substance abuse and highlighted how addiction negatively impacts health, family life, financial stability, and social reputation.

Pamphlets distributed during the programme also provided information on available counselling, guidance, and support services for individuals seeking help to quit substance abuse and lead a healthier life.

Message from the Director

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ram Narayan, Director, Buxar Medical City Foundation, stated that substance abuse is a grave challenge for society and cannot be addressed through legal measures alone. He emphasized that awareness, education, and active community participation are essential to effectively combat this issue. He further appealed to citizens to take collective responsibility in creating a drug-free environment.

Announcement of Upcoming Programme

Mr. Narayan also announced the Foundation’s upcoming initiative — an Anti-Drug Rangoli Competition scheduled for 02 January 2026 at Kila Maidan, Buxar. The objective of this creative event is to spread anti-drug messages through art and visual expression. Students as well as members of the general public are encouraged to participate in the competition.

Community Participation and Support

Local residents appreciated the efforts of Buxar Medical City Foundation and expressed their commitment to supporting the cause of a drug-free society. The successful execution of the programme was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the Foundation’s team members, including Ajay Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Rahul Jaiswal, Lallu Keshari, Kaju Kumar, along with several other volunteers.

Conclusion

This initiative by Buxar Medical City Foundation reflects the power of collective action and awareness in addressing critical social issues like substance abuse. Through sustained outreach and community engagement, the Foundation continues to take meaningful steps toward building a healthier, safer, and drug-free society.
